300 Years of Making
Summer Friends
The
Beaufort Historical Association celebrates Beaufort,
North Carolina’s extraordinary 300-year history with a
special summer party: “300 Years of Making Summer
Friends”, 7:00 – 11:00pm, July 11, 2009, on the Beaufort
Historic Site Grounds at 130 Turner Street in Beaufort.
Not only does the Historic Site offer astonishing
history with its six authentically restored buildings,
but a wealth of knowledge that is sure to keep you
coming back to Beaufort for the rest of your life.
The Beaufort Historic Site is one of the many
organizations celebrating this tricentennial
anniversary. This year, Beaufort will feature monthly
potluck dinners where local citizens get a chance to
listen as guest speakers have round-table discussions on
various aspects of Beaufort’s heritage. The celebration
will culminate in September with a multitude of
activities including a homecoming parade, boat rides, a
community picnic, concerts, fireworks, exhibits, tours
and much more as Beaufort shares all the special history
that has made it the unique place it is today.
Tickets for “300 Years of Making Summer Friends” are
$100 per person. The evening event features gourmet
cuisine by local favorite, Beaufort Grocery Company and
live music by The O’Kaysions, known nationally for their
hit “I’m a Girl Watcher”. The O’Kaysions remain one of
the top performing show bands in the Southeast.
