Join us for our Valentine Membership Party

The Beaufort Historical Association, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010, showcases the authentically restored homes and buildings of the Beaufort Historic Site, Sunday, February 7 from 2 to 4 pm, at its Valentine Membership Drive Party. This popular annual event welcomes current and prospective BHA members with a unique Valentine’s party held on the grounds of the Historic Site located in the 100 block of Turner Street.

Each of the site’s restored historic buildings depicts a different aspect of life for early Beaufort residents. To enhance this experience, each building features a different food and drink for guests to enjoy, along with an on-site expert to answer questions about the history of the structure and its furnishings.

BHA members and those interested in becoming members of this strong local organization enjoy such offerings as afternoon tea in the circa 1825 Josiah Bell House, beer and pizza in the circa 1829 Carteret County Jail, delectable punch and cookies in the circa 1796 Carteret County Courthouse, and a selection of wine and cheese in the circa 1732 Mattie King Davis Art Gallery, the oldest gallery in Carteret County, which will also feature artist Debbie Cox.

This is an exciting year to become a BHA member at any level, as the Beaufort Historical Association celebrates its 50th year. Membership spans the county, state and the nation, creating a strong association of individuals all interested in preserving the treasured history of Beaufort. The BHA offers a wide range of membership levels, from $25 for students and senior citizens, to a $35 contributor and $100 sponsor level, to higher amounts, with each level of membership receiving special benefits. These include complimentary tours of the Historic Site and Historic District (aboard the BHA’s vintage English double-decker bus), discounts for items purchased at the Museum’s shop, free tickets to major events such as the Beaufort Old Homes and Gardens Tour, a subscription to the BHA’s newsletter, and the opportunity to participate in a number of social activities and other special events throughout the year.

The Beaufort Historical Association invites you to attend the February 7 Valentine Membership Drive Party and fall in love with the history of Beaufort. All that’s needed to attend is a paid membership at any level, which is accepted with the BHA’s great appreciation, the day of the party. For additional information on the Valentine Membership Drive Party or other Beaufort Historical Association events and programs, call 252-728-5225 or e-mail Brooke Maharg.
