Living History Program
January 12th | 2 pm
The Beaufort Historical Association's Living History Program will start the 2013 year with a program commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation on Saturday, January 12 at 2:00 pm. The program will take place in the BHA's circa 1796 Courthouse on the Beaufort Historic Site, 130 Turner Street. The program is free to the public and seating will be limited. Seating reservations may be made by calling the BHA Welcome Center at 728-5225.
Semi-Annual Membership Meeting
January 22 | 6 pm
Held twice a year, this meeting honors all BHA volunteers and will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. A potluck dinner will be followed by a short business meeting and the presentation of the Volunteer Awards.

Valentine Membership Party
February 10 | 2 to 4 pm
In an effort to increase membership, the BHA opens the buildings of the Beaufort Historic Site for current and prospective members to explore, which allows them to see how the BHA uses membership dollars to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Beaufort and Carteret County.

Volunteer Training
March 14 | 9 am – 4 pm
Attendees are invited for an orientation for those interested in volunteering at the Beaufort Historic Site. Anyone interested in historic preservation and research, student educational programs, driving a double-decker bus, leading tours, retail sales in the gift shop or helping with the many committees that are the backbone of the Association are welcome to attend.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt
March 30 | 11 am
Children ages seven and younger are welcome to join the fun. Prizes, refreshments and lots of eggs - it's all free - just bring a basket!

53rd Annual Old Homes and Gardens Tour - June 28-29 | 10 am to 5 pm
This 53rd annual walking tour of private historic homes, gardens, churches and meeting halls is the last full weekend in June. Private homes, Beaufort Historic Site buildings, the Old Burying Ground, narrated bus tours of the historic district, music concerts and an antique car show are all highlights of this signature event.

Held in conjunction with the Beaufort Old Homes and Gardens Tour in June at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City, this event features more than 40 booths of antiques and collectibles, as well as a gourmet Tea Room.

Membership Meeting / Volunteer Picnic - September 26 | 6 pm
The Semi-Annual Membership Meeting will be held on the grounds of The Beaufort Historic Site. A picnic with all the trimmings to honor is featured for all those who volunteer for the Beaufort Historical Association and its many events and activities. There will be a very brief business meeting, which includes the election of new Board of Governors members.

Gala fundraising party held in a beautiful Beaufort home featuring the works of a selected artist. Artwork is available for purchase. Admission charge.
Harvest Time - Details TBA
Demonstrations of Beaufort family life in the 1700s and 1800s will be featured in this Living History program designed specifically for fourth grade classes. Children learn through hands-on activities about open hearth cooking, candle dipping, apple pressing, butter churning, spinning, weaving and food preservation techniques demonstrated by volunteers in period dress. Admission charge.

Kindergarten Thanksgiving - Details TBA
Similar to our Harvest Time, Kindergarten Thanksgiving is open for kindergarten classes. Children will visit the quaint Leffers Cottage to learn from Mr. Leffers and his family how they prepared for the winter months. Students will see open hearth cooking, butter churning, weaving and spinning and will have a lively conversation with Mr. Leffers himself! Reservations required.
Jumble Sale - November 23 | 9 am to 3 pm
The Beaufort Historic Site turns into a community market with art, handmade crafts, holiday gifts, pre-loved treasures, antiques, clothing, food and much more. No admission fee. Vendor information is available.
Community Thanksgiving Feast - November 24 | 11:30 to 1 pm
A traditional turkey dinner is provided by some of the area's finest restaurants. Served at the Beaufort Historic Site, dinners are available for take-out or to enjoy under our tent. Admission fee.

Beaufort Holiday Art Walk - December 14 | 1 to 5 pm
Enjoy a festive day in Historic Downtown Beaufort, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and celebrate the season with art receptions and open houses at many downtown locations. A wide variety of art from regional artists will be showcased throughout many of the downtown shops, galleries and restaurants. The Art Walk will begin at The Beaufort Historic Site, 130 Turner St. Art Walk maps will be available at participating locations.
Christmas Candlelight Tour - December 14 | 4 to 8 pm
This self-paced walking tour provides glimpses into some of the most beautiful private homes, Inns, Bead and Breakfast in Beaufort. Ride atop the BHA's English double-decker bus with carolers from local churches. Homeowners will open their doors so that the public can delight in their festive décor and decorations. Admission fee.
